Explaining The Previewer

Before we continue on to making clothing or furniture I think it best to familiarise ourselves a little with the previewer.

The Previewer is the name of the 3D graphics generator program which IMVU uses to base all its content on, and is what we, as content creators, use to make and upload our creations to the catalog.

The previewer utilises 3 windows although we should only concern ourselves with 2 of them, the 3D preview window and the IMVU previewer window

Using The Previewer

We will go into more detail about using the previewer program as we progress through the tutorials, but I felt it best to touch on the basics now.

To start using the program you must first log-in (use the same username and password that you have for your IMVU account)

Allow the program to go though its start-up procedure and soon you will see the 3D preview window and the IMVU previewer window as below

The 3D preview window works on the same principle as the 3D chat window in IMVU chat, the difference being that it is controlled through the IMVU previewer instead of the chat engine.

The main controls being:

The product layers

The colour (diffuse color) and opacity layers

Apply Changes button

Submit button

Now that we know the basic controls of the previewer we shall move on to making some simple clothing items
